Endianness
- A word size is the
fixed-size unit of data for a system.
- The system will pad data to fit the word size.
- We will use the playPad.c code to investigate this.
- Endianess refers to the byte-order in which mutli-byte data is stored internally on a system.
- Run this command:
lscpu | grep Endian
- The 2 types are:
- Big Endian - the high-ordered bytes are stored first in memory.
- Little Endian - the low-ordered bytes are stored first in memory.
- We will use the playEndian.c code to investigate this.
