- One trick is to know enough of any editor to copy and paste text from a windowing tool (like Windows or a browser) into the Linux file.
Type i (for insert)
Paste using your clipboard or type in text
Hit esc
Type :wq to save your changes and exit vi
A few more important tips for vi:
- Do NOT use the arrow keys!
- Do NOT touch your mouse!
- Do NOT leave the cap-locks key on - use shift for each capital letter.
